Peel L&P and Fives Soccer Centre have today been given the green light by Trafford Council to develop a new football centre in TraffordCity which will provide the community with eight, FA approved all-weather football pitches and changing rooms on a three-acre site adjacent to the Beyond Ski Centre.
COVID 19 Update
The current FIVES Soccer Centre will remain closed until the new £2 million football facility is completed by Peel L&P in 2021.
UK’s first commercial soccer centre to meet the FA guidelines
Scott Penman, Owner of Fives Soccer Centre said: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured full planning consent, not only securing a grass roots football facility in TraffordCity for the long-term, but also allowing us to execute Fives Soccer Centre’s vision for the future of five-a-side football. The New Fives Soccer Centre in TraffordCity will be the UK’s first commercial soccer centre to meet the FA guidelines for small-sided pitch construction combined with an industry unique digital experience, two key elements in ensuring a sustainable operating model that will cement its place at the centre of football in Manchester for the next 25 years and beyond.
“We are extremely excited to be able to launch commercial small-sided football into a new modern era, delivering the Soccer Centre of the future to our loyal customers and supporting the development of the grass roots game”
James Whittaker, Strategic Development Director for Peel L&P said: “We’ve been committed to working with Fives on delivering a sustainable football centre for the people of Trafford for some time and we’re delighted that our vision is now a reality. It will be instrumental in supporting grass roots football in the area and we’re looking forward to working as quickly as possible to deliver this important, local, sporting facility which the community will be proud of.”
The approval of the new football centre has formed part of a wider application, which has also been given the go ahead, to transform the Soccerdome building into a multi-million pound, state-of-the-art conference and event space for EventCity, due to open in April 2021.
Plans have also been submitted to transform the 26-acre site of the current EventCity, in Barton Dock Road, into a £175 million health and wellbeing resortby Therme.
