In the zone...

As TraffordCity has evolved a number of zones have been identified which includes established commercial developments and visitor attractions as well as areas with development potential including the new ‘Trafford Waters’ residential community.

Origins zone

Where it all began...

The origins of the TraffordCity we see today were kick-started by the opening 23 years ago of The Trafford Centre. This world-renowned shopping and leisure destination is a place you'll always find must-have brands, high street favourites, delicious food and exciting leisure all under one spectacular roof.

Not to mention the historic Wilderspool Woods with its woodland and nature walks and a treetop high ropes adventure course.

Plus, a cosy pub and Premier Inn hotel for a relaxed stay.

Vitality zone

Wellbeing is at our heart...

Health and wellbeing are at the heart of the TraffordCity brand and exciting plans are in the pipeline to bring the first Therme Resorts to the UK.

Combining the concept of a roman spa with an indoor tropical paradise it’s set to make a positive social impact on the health and well-being of the community by making the concept affordable and accessible to all.

Complementing the Therme Resort, plans have been submitted for a £60million surf park. Modern Surf will feature a surfing lagoon, dining and fitness facilities as well as boarding, bouldering and balancing zones.

The Vitality Zone is also home to a Holiday Inn Express hotel offering a comfortable stay in modern surroundings.

Hive zone

Everyday essentials...

Those all-important everyday essentials are conveniently on hand with an ASDA Superstore, Costco and B&Q all located within the Hive Zone.

If you’re in the market for a new car Fords of Winsford and Williams Group retail centre comprising MINI, Land Rover, Jaguar and BMW Motorare on hand.

And if you need to pick up some quick refreshment, there’s a drive-thru Starbucks and Krispy Kreme.

Live Zone

Staying active...

An active life is a healthy life, and the Live Zone has it all from the thrills of indoor skiing at Chill Factore and indoor skydiving at iFLY to Trafford Golf Centre’s premier golf driving range and academy,as well as David Lloyd Clubs state-of-the-art gym and tennis facilities.

Plans are also in place for a new grassroots football facility with eight, FA approved all-weather football pitches and changing rooms on a three-acre site. And for little ones there’s the ultimate indoor play area at Play Factore and Jurassic family fun at Dino Falls Adventure Golf at Trafford Golf Centre.

And for anyone wanting to make a weekend of it, or staying in the TraffordCity area for business, there are two hotels in the Live Zone.

Legacy zone

Steeped in history...

TraffordCity is both a progressive destination and one that is steeped in history, where remnants of its past continue to be visible today.

The Barton Bridges Heritage area is a site of international importance and is home to three, unique grade 2 star listed structures: The Barton Swing Aqueduct, the only one of its kind in the world, Barton Swing Bridge and Control Tower. The grade 1 listed All Saints Roman Catholic Church also forms part of the Barton-in-Irwell conservation area.

For the long term, we are looking to enhance and restore these historic structures and by reinstating the high-level walkway across the Barton Swing Aqueduct it will reconnect

Pulse zone

Thrilling sport...

Nothing gets the pulse racing like supporting your team and as the home of Sale Sharks Rugby Union team, AJ Bell Stadium is the only place you can watch Premiership Rugby action in the north. And for Rugby League fans Betfred Superleague finalists Salford City Reds also call the stadium home. AJ Bell Stadium is also the north-west’s hub for first class service in sports events, conferencing, parties, weddings and more.

Spark zone

A whole new community...

As TraffordCity enters its next phase it will become a destination that thousands will call home. A newly planned residential and mixed-use community is envisaged at Trafford Waters. The regeneration proposals will create 3,000 new homes for 5,000 key workers, young professionals and families.

It will be one of Greater Manchester’s largest mixed-use developments supported by a new school, health centre, 800,000 sq ft of commercial office and workspace and convenience retail set in attractive public spaces.

Exchange zone

Strategically linked...

TraffordCity is strategically linked and with its location on the Manchester Ship Canal, Port Salford will be the UK’s first tri-modal inland port which will be served by ship, rail and road.

This ground-breaking development will include an inland port and warehousing facility, container terminal and distribution park.

Voyager zone

Our own aviation hub...

TraffordCity even has its own airport - City Airport & Heliport is a busy general aviation airport. Open to the general public, it’s a hive of aviation activity from emergency services, flying lessons, private and business flying. It even hosts regular family events and has its own cafe & bar ‘Runway 26’ serving tasty food and drink.
