a sustainable city
we strive to be a sustainable city
In line with Peel L&P’s sustainability five year business plan we continually strive to meet the current needs of our businesses and stakeholders while future proofing our developments and activities in a sustainable way at TraffordCity and beyond.
green space to live, work and play
We are creating a high quality green environment where people can thrive with natural environments mixed with active lifestyle opportunities. Space to be active and to connect with natural environments - we are creating quality greenspaces and a vibrant environment where people will want to live and businesses invest.
Active lifestyle and connectivity are integrated into the destination with health and wellbeing at its core. With natural environments such as a woodland area, waterway and cultural heritage as well as numerous leisure opportunities for active lifestyle, a community within TraffordCity can thrive. With plans for the UK’s largest health and wellbeing venue, TraffordCity will provide for optimum opportunities for mental and physical wellbeing of its residents, visitors, employees and business partners. We provide optimum opportunity to enhance the mental and physical wellbeing of our community.
sustainable workspaces
Our anchor commercial office block Venus is one of the first in the country to be independently verified as Net Zero Carbon using the UK Green Building Council’s definition. BREEAM ‘very good’ places the building in the top 25% of UK non-domestic buildings for environmental performance.
Peel L&P created the first ‘green roof’ building in TraffordCity at Kids Allowed childcare centre, which also achieved an A-rated Energy Performance Certificate.
EventCity and Venus buildings operate the ISO 50001 Energy Management system with EventCity working towards ISO20121 sustainable event management certification.
EventCity, Venus and Holiday Inn Express have 100% waste diverted from landfill and is either recycled or goes into energy recovery.
There is a destination wide commitment to increase in EV charging points.
