Even in the chilly winter months, there's really nothing better than wrapping up and getting outside for a little fun and fitness. Not only are outdoor activities much more COVID safe, they provide a vital boost to our mental health and wellbeing, not to mention the health giving properties of all that lovely fresh air.
We take a look at how you can boost your fitness and mood (and stay safe) by getting outdoors if you're local to TraffordCity.
Looking for a convenient route for a 5k run? Did you know we have a 3k and 5k running route right here at TraffordCity? If you're local to TraffordCity (or working here as an essential service) and just want to get out for a run lace up and give it a go!
Bridgewater Way canal towpath
Did you know you can get on your bike and cycle to and from TraffordCity along the Bridgewater Way towpath? You can cycle from the City Centre, Leigh, Sale and beyond and arrive at TraffordCity just behind Barton Square. The towpath is a traffic free haven in the city – perfect for cyclists and also excellent for pram pushing, feeding ducks, waving at boats and teaching kids to ride their bikes.
Did you know that The Trafford Centre has its very own on-site ancient woodland? Wilderspool Wood is a haven for wildlife - bird and bat boxes have been introduced with dead wood being recycled to act as a draw for insects. Information points have been placed around the wood informing visitors about the flourishing wildlife.
Plus, a network of woodland paths and a picnic area means there's plenty of opportunities to take time out and enjoy nature right here at TraffordCity.
