Closure of Salford Western Gateway Lifting Bridge

The lifting bridge at Barton, TraffordCity is due to be closed to motorists and pedestrians to allow essential repair works to be carried out.
The full closure will take place from 13th to 24th January 2020.
Diversions will be signposted via A57 and Barton Road, Barton Swing Bridge and Redclyffe Road. Bus service number 100 travelling to and from the intu Trafford Centre will also be diverted.
Darren Grant from contractor Hochtief, said: “The lifting bridge at Barton has become a very popular route for motorists and it’s important that we carry out these essential repair works immediately so people can continue to use it.
“The work completed in December was to improve the mechanical operation of the bridge and unfortunately it was not possible to carry out all the works at the same time.
“We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause to people’s journeys and we’re doing our best to minimise disruption.”
The Go Northwest Bus service 100 will be diverted as follows for the duration of the closures:
From intu Trafford Centre to Warrington, Cadishead and Irlam
Take the second exit on the roundabout onto Trafford Boulevard, at the next roundabout take the third exit onto the M60 and come off at Junction 11. First exit onto Liverpool Road back to normal route.
From Warrington, Irlam and Cadishead to intu Trafford Centre
Stay on Liverpool Road, at the roundabout take the third exit, onto M60 stay on till Junction 10. Take the first exit at the roundabout, onto Trafford Boulevard at the next roundabout take the third exit back to normal route.
