Update on Powerleague, TraffordCity
30 November 2018
There is currently inaccurate
information being shared among the local community with regard to Peel
L&P’s involvement in its closure, so for your information we would like
to share the following with you:
the positive outcome of a creditors meeting a few weeks ago we can confirm that
Peel is exploring with Powerleague the opportunity of entering into a new lease
after the expiry of their lease with DW Sports in February 2019. Powerleague is
currently a sub tenant of DW Sports and we’re working closely with all parties
to secure a football operator for the long term as we all recognise it is a
crucial facility for the local community. After the expiry of the DW Sports
lease, which is likely to be renewed, Peel is seeking to make a significant
investment into the building to enhance its overall offering for the future.
Sadly, the situation with
Powerleague in Trafford has not been in isolation. Powerleague have entered
into a Creditor Voluntary Agreement that resulted in the closure of 12 other
Powerleague facilities across the UK and Ireland, however, we are doing all we
can by working with them and DW Sports to secure its future, here in Trafford.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
