Myro Doodles at Barton Square

The Peel L&P Team at Barton Square were delighted to welcome local artist Myro Doodles over the August Bank Holiday weekend, covering one of our available shop fronts with her incredible artwork – to celebrate our region’s successes at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Following an incredible response to her eye-catching and colourful artwork - which became a real ‘instagrammable’ attraction - Myro recently returned to Barton Square to complete her ‘doodle’ and incorporate images of our Paralympic heroes.

The completed artwork will be available to view until 9th October on the lower level at Barton Square, within TraffordCity and linked via a bridge from The Trafford Centre.

Myro Doodles is a Manchester-based illustrator who has worked on shop frontages across the north west for small independent businesses as well as larger organisations, helping them to engage with customers through artwork.

We loved welcoming Myro Doodles back to the centre after being such a huge part of our athletic-themed activities which ran across the August Bank Holiday weekend.

Myroslava Coates (aka Myro Doodles) said: “It was a lovely experience doodling at Barton Square for the first time, but to be celebrating our sporting heroes from Team GB and Paralympics GB made it extra special. To celebrate Great Britain's success in such a unique and special way is an experience that will stay with me for a long time.

“Barton Square is such a beautiful space, but projects like this show there's way more to the space than just aesthetics. I'm really happy that I was able to be a part of that on this occasion.”

Mark Whittaker, executive director of Peel L&P, owners of Barton Square, commented: “It has been fantastic to host Myro Doodles’ unique artwork at Barton Square. The display has attracted a great deal of attention from visitors of all ages and really captured a unifying sporting moment.

“It’s a privilege to recognise and celebrate the success of our region’s Olympians and Paralympians this year and hopefully we’re helping to inspire the next generation of north west athletes.”
