Watermelon takes centre stage this Veganuary

If you're celebrating Veganuary and focussing on a plant-based diet, you'll find plenty of delicious Vegan options across TraffordCity.

But did you know there are some exciting innovations happening when it comes to Vegan fare? One such invention is juicy seared steaks made from...wait for it...watermelon! The clever food experts at wagamama and TGI Fridays have come up with two watermelon based 'steak' dishes that will get your tastebuds zinging this Veganuary. Come and try them!

Suika Vegan Tuna at wagamama

During the month of January wagamama will be celebrating Veganuary by bringing in a new wave of vegan innovation with a brand new plant based dish - the vegan Suika Tuna. 'Suika' means watermelon in Japanese. The vegan 'tuna' is made with dehydrated watermelon which is then sliced, seared and served hot. The look and texture is incredibly similar to tuna.

The 'tuna' is dressed with a miso sesame sauce and sits on a bed of white rice accompanied with pickled radish, kale, tenderstem broccoli and served with an avocado, edamame and tofu guacamole. Hurry, this dish is only available during January.

Watermelon 'steak' at TGI Fridays

TGI Fridays launches their BRAND-NEW vegan watermelon steak. Seasoned with Siracha and garlic with a juicy centre that cuts and eats like a medium-rare sirloin steak. It is full of flavour and perfect for Veganuary. You can also make the most of their 2 Course Menu for £16.99.
