10 things to look forward to at TraffordCity

They say you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone and if there’s one thing the last year has taught us, it’s how much we appreciate (and miss) the little joys that life brings.

All the things we’ve been unable to do during the pandemic from meeting family and friends to enjoying sports and hobbies may feel like a world away, but with the current plans for easing restrictions there is every reason to look forward with hope.

In fact, a recent study by the University of Surrey found that focussing on good things in the future was the most effective way of maintaining a positive outlook while we’re in lockdown.

So, without further ado, we’ve compiled a list of 10 things to look forward to at TraffordCity in 2021.

1. Have a fun day out with the family

Trafford Treetop Adventures TRAFFORDCITY Manchester

From missing friends to home schooling, we think our youngsters deserve a massive treat. And what better way to reward them (and you) than a brilliant day out. From fun in real snow, golfing with dinosaurs and swinging through the trees to discovering an undersea world, jumping into the biggest box of LEGO bricks ever and fun in the UK’s biggest play arena. Get set for smiles all round.

2. Get active

Golf at Trafford Golf Centre

Too much loafing on the sofa? Sport and fitness are at the core of TraffordCity and with a golf driving range (complete with coaching from PGA professionals), indoor real snow ski slope, and state of the art gym and tennis facilities there’ll be no excuse not to shake up that fitness routine!

3. Feel the rush

iFLY Indoor Skydiving Kick Start experiences are available from just £29.99

Calling all thrill-seekers...whether you fancy a free-fall in a vertical wind tunnel or whizzing down the slopes in real snow, there's plenty to get that adrenaline pumping.

4. Cheer on your team

Treat him to tickets for the big game when Salford Red Devils or Sale Sharks play at AJ Bell Stadium

Nothing gets the pulse racing like supporting your team and as the home of Sale Sharks Rugby Union team, AJ Bell Stadium is the only place you can watch Premiership Rugby action in the north. And for Rugby League fans Betfred Superleague finalists Salford Red Devils also call the stadium home.

5. Shop till you drop

Shopping at intu Trafford Centre

Although we may have embraced online shopping and found ourselves on first name terms with the delivery drivers during lockdown, nothing beats the experience of browsing the shops for inspiration. Whether that’s a wardrobe update, beauty treats or refreshing your home we can’t wait to indulge in a little retail therapy.

6. Tempt those tastebuds

Dad dining with daughter in a restaurant

Relaxing in a restaurant, checking out the menu and indulging in a delicious meal with friends is a pleasure we’ve all missed, and with over 60 restaurants cafes and bars who can’t wait to take your order again you’ll be spoilt for choice. It’s a mouth-watering thought!

7. Catch a blockbuster

Children at the cinema

As much as we’re grateful for the hours passed bingeing on boxsets at home, we can’t wait to grab a bucket of popcorn and settle in front of one of ODEON’s 20 screens - including RealD 3D and monster IMAX - to watch a long-awaited blockbuster release. We’re looking at you, Mr Bond.

8. Get outdoors

Family enjoying a woodland path

Did you know TraffordCity has its very own ancient woodland complete with wildlife and nature walks? And a canal tow path where you can walk or cycle all the way from TraffordCity to Manchester city centre or simply potter along with little ones and feed the ducks. Plus, with a golf driving range, dinosaur adventure golf and a treetop high ropes course in the mix, there’s even more outdoor fun to look forward to. And breathe!

9. Meet for a drink

It’s often the simple act of meeting up for coffee with a friend or getting together for cocktails that make a day special. There are lots of places to indulge in your favourite barista brewed beverage and for the ultimate indulgence, there’s not one but two fabulous champagne and cocktail bars. Chin chin!

10. Book a break!

Happy family relaxing in hotel room

2021 is shaping up to be the year of the staycation so, if you’re wondering how you’re going to fit all of the above in, why not relax and book a room at one of the five hotels right here at TraffordCity? Plus, with the new Metrolink stops you can hop on a tram and explore everything the surrounding area has to offer including Manchester United, Lancashire County Cricket Club MediaCityUK, The Lowry, Imperial War Museum North and the City Centre.
